Time to Detox and Clean the System

Blog, Pantry

Have you had a little extra sugar, sun, or “refreshments” this weekend? Did you eat outside of your normal diet? Do you feel the need for a little extra love? Maybe you a little more sluggish, a little achy, a little congested? These are signs your system needs some extra support! It is overwhelmed with non-nutritives and it is time to clear the system (aka detox)

Let’s review how you can use pure, therapeutic grade essential oils and a few other ingredients to help your body recover.

Load up with antioxidants

Ningxia Red (My absolutely favorite for flavor and potency) drink, Red beans, berries (blueberries, raspberries), prunes, apples, & sweet cherries.

Support your liver:

Garlic, Kale, radishes, beets, spinach, collards, Raw apple cider vinegar, fermented foods & drinks (Kombucha)

Essential oils:

Drink Lemon or Orange EOs. Rub Juvaflex or Release EOs over liver

Take a bath

Place 1/2 cup of epsom salts in the bathtub and drop 4 drops of essential oils on the salts. Then run hot water and soak 15-20minutes. See my post on candles for how to improve the atmosphere and create aroma therapy at the same time!

Essential oils:

German chamomile, Geranium

Drink Lots of Water

Minimum half an ounce per pound. If you choose to ingest adding 1-2 drops of pure therapeutic grade essential oils can speed the detox process by supporting your liver.

Essential Oils:

Peppermint, Spearmint, lemon or Orange

My Detox Plan:

Morning:

  • Drink 1-2 ounces of Ningxia berry drink
  • Drop 2 drops of peppermint in my 40ounce water bottle
  • Eat eggs, sautéed spinach, and cultured sauerkraut for breakfast. (with hot sauce for flavor). I promise it is MUCH better than it sounds. Add some good bacon in there too!

Afternoon:

  • Continue my daily oil regimen and add my geranium combination to my spine. Diffuse while working.
  • Eat a protein shake with my favorite powder (Slique - vegan and gf), add 1 TBS coconut oil (protect the nerves), frozen cherries, and kale.
  • Drink some Kombucha (any non caffeinated and no sugar drinks can count towards your water intake).

Evening:

  • Epsom salt bath with Release & Orange (and maybe a little calming oil too).
  • Drink plenty of water during bath.
  • Reapply Geranium blend to spine.
  • Continue my normal evening diffusing.

AVOID:

Everything I mention within these pages: Plug ins, scented candles, chemical cleaners, alcohol, sodas, any other synthetic foods and drinks

TIPS:

  • Consume healthy fats as your snacks (avocados, nuts)
  • Keep a 1 L water bottle nearby
  • Keep some healthy snacks (see my recipes) just in case
  • Essential oils: breathe in Lavender or Stress Away to calm nerves. All that sugar plays tricks with your nervous system.
