Our endocrine systems are absolutely fascinating and amazing!  Thyroid, pancreas, parathyroid, ovaries, testicles, and adrenal glands are all a part of our endocrine system and are responsible for releasing hormones that regulate metabolism, stress response, sleep and wake cycles, sexual function, growth and development, reproduction, blood sugar management, and so much more. WOW!  In fact, this system is such a powerhouse it is a wonder we don't talk about it more often as it is often at the root of many imbalances.  For you to reach your full potential you may just need a little endocrine support!

Did you know that a system is usually dysfunctioning by 70% (you read that right 70) before any lab work comes back as abnormal?

So if you find that you never quite feel rested when you wake up, you can't find the energy to work out or your work outs don't bring the results you expect, you are jumpy and jittery, your libido is in the tank, or you are struggling with fertility it is likely that you just need a little endocrine support!  Trust yourself and listen to your body.  Unfortunately, most physicians are trained to diagnosed and treat based on labwork, but what if you just provide the proper endocrine support through diet and supplements and are able to keep RUNNING?!

Recently, many of you know I had a growth on my thyroid.  Looking back I realized (that despite normal labs) I had been struggling with a hypoactive thyroid for a while.  A LONG WHILE.  From struggles with energy, metabolism, frail hair to heavy periods it all fit.  Once I discovered my issues it took me only a matter of weeks to feel like myself again. AND ALL the issues above have resolved or are improving!  

Teenagers in the house?  Pre-teens?  8yo?  These are all times in which hormones adjusts, surge, and typically lead to growth and development.  It is extremely important to support the endocrine system of our kids.

Ways to support your endocrine system:

  • Don't forget your 4x4x4 breathing!! See blends above for my favorite to combine with this for the ultimate reset button.
  • Don't forget that it's all connected.  Healthy liver and kidneys are important as the more congested and slower they are at their functions the harder the endocrine system has to work to balance the hormones and keep things moving. (meet your needs without overwhelming you).
  • Exercise regularly.  This can be as simple as 15 minutes of core work out a day (see our exercises of the month), brisk walk or stair climbs, or as intense a work out as you want.  If you can squeeze a work out in by walking, running, or riding to work or school DO IT!
  • Drink a lot of water:  MINIMUM 1/2 ounce of water for every pound of body weight.  Add water for any alcohol, caffeine, or work outs.  THIS IS VITAL for proper cellular function and therefore metabolism.  Recently I had a client that was afraid to drink that much water and end up bloated.  When I explained how the water helps you eliminate metabolic waste she GOT IT!  DRINK DRINK DRINK!  I like to add a good vitality Citrus or spearmint essential oil to mine.  For added endocrine support I add a scoop of Aminowise by Young Living.
  • Supplements:
    • Aminowise (aminoacids, minerals, electrolytes, antioxidants and more) 1 scoop daily in water.
    • Powergize taken as needed in the evening to help your endocrine system as it rests and restores.
    • Spearmint vitality EO:  the spearmint plant is amazing
    • Thyromin by Young Living is an AMAZING supplement specifically designed for the endocrine system.
  • Eat Whole Foods and eliminate processed foods.  As much as possible remove inflammatory foods such as GMO grains and most processed dairy.  The more you work to eliminate these, the greater your reward will be.
  • Botannical support:
    • MEN: roll on Mister essential oil (work AMAZING as a cologne, trust me) over thyroid/neck every morning and/or evening.
    • Women:  Roll on Endoflex essential oil over thyroid every morning and/or evening.
  • DUMP THE DISRUPTORS: We can't talk about supporting the endocrine system without discussing every day items that are making more work for it.  I have tons of information on the hub about this and is a blog in and of itself.
