NOVEMBER IS OUR MONTH TO REST & DIGEST

We rest 1/3 of our day. Why? So our tissues and organs can repair & regenerate.

A big part of that is digestion and healing. In fact, sleep is a critical component of stress management.

Tune in each week this month for another habit that leads to better sleep. Remember, better sleep = better (everything) focus.

Let’s start with food! After all we have officially entered the holiday season!

First, family meals gathered around a table are HIGHLY recommended if this is not a current practice. It is amazing what you learn and the conversations that can be had around a meal. We make a concerted effort to all sit together around a table and talk or play a game. We have learned more, laughed more, and had more surprises around our table than anywhere else. Plus this slows your eating time and improves digestion!

 

Habit of the week: Bedtime foods

Avoid eating 1 hour before bed (especially anything with sugar).

*I realize with sports this is not always possible.

If you do eat before bed these are some top foods for resting and digesting!

  • Cherries
  • Bananas
  • Fatty foods (Nuts, avocados, fish, beef - think Mediterranean foods)
  • Oats
  • Rice

**Avoid caffeine and sugars late afternoon and evening.
